New Delhi/Chandigarh: The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has identified another person from Punjab as a wanted accused in an alleged international organised crime case, days after releasing details of another Punjab resident, Amritpal Singh, who was listed as wanted before his reported death.
The FBI has named Gurpreet Singh as a suspect in a case involving allegations of involvement in a transnational criminal network. According to the agency, Singh is wanted on charges related to illegal firearms dealings, drug trafficking conspiracies and distribution of controlled substances.
The FBI has alleged that Singh was associated with the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria organised crime group, which it claims originated in Punjab and later expanded operations to the United States, including California.
A federal arrest warrant was issued against Singh on June 25 by the United States District Court for the Central District of California in Los Angeles. The charges include conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances with the intent to distribute, along with related drug distribution offences.
FBI Expands Probe Into Punjab-Origin Crime Networks
The latest development comes amid increased scrutiny by US authorities over alleged transnational crime groups with links to Punjab. In June, gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and jailed Punjab-based criminal Lawrence Bishnoi were among 37 individuals named in a US-led action targeting international organised crime networks. The operation was reportedly called “Hard Ball.”
The FBI has been investigating alleged networks involved in criminal activities across multiple countries, including drug trafficking, weapons-related offences and organised violence.
Earlier Case Involving Amritpal Singh
The FBI had recently released the photograph of another Punjab resident, Amritpal Singh, as part of its wanted information. However, his family disputed the agency’s listing, claiming that he had returned from Canada, settled in Mowai village in Jalandhar district and later died in a road accident on February 19, 2025, while returning from his agricultural land.
The circumstances surrounding the listing of Amritpal Singh remain a subject of discussion, with his family maintaining that he was no longer alive when the FBI issued the information.
The FBI has not yet announced further details regarding Gurpreet Singh’s current location or whether any arrest has been made. Investigations into the alleged criminal network and its international connections are continuing.
