New Delhi: India on Tuesday released emergency contact numbers for its citizens in Nepal following escalating political unrest that erupted after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned amid nationwide protests. The demonstrations turned violent, with protesters attacking the private residences of top politicians, including President Ramchandra Paudel, and vandalizing the parliament.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu urged all Indian nationals in Nepal to note the following helpline numbers for urgent assistance: +977-9808602881 and +977-9810326134.

The Ministry of External Affairs advised Indian travelers to postpone any plans to visit Nepal and instructed those already in the country to stay indoors, avoid public gatherings, and exercise caution. Citizens were also asked to follow local safety advisories issued by Nepalese authorities and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

In response to the unrest, several airlines suspended operations. Air India cancelled four flights between Delhi and Kathmandu, while IndiGo and Nepal Airlines also halted their flights. Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu remains temporarily closed, further disrupting travel.
