Punjab Advocate Dies After Alleged Accidental Firing From Licensed Revolver in Moga

Moga: A 35-year-old advocate lost his life after reportedly suffering a gunshot injury from his own licensed revolver in Punjab’s Moga district, with police treating the incident as a suspected accidental firing.

The deceased has been identified as Amninder Singh, a resident of Buttar town and the son of Harbhupinder Singh Ladi, a senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former chairman.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place late at night when the licensed firearm allegedly discharged unexpectedly. The exact circumstances that led to the firing remain unclear, and investigators are working to determine how the weapon went off.

Family members and local residents rushed the injured advocate for medical assistance after he sustained a critical gunshot wound. However, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family and the local community in shock.

The news of his untimely death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, members of the legal fraternity and residents of the area. Many people gathered to express their sympathies to the bereaved family.

Police officials have launched an investigation into the incident. Jaswinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Badhni Kalan Police Station, said the initial assessment points towards an accidental firing. He added that the body has been shifted to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.

The SHO stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated after recording the statements of the deceased’s family members and completing the preliminary inquiry.

Authorities said all aspects of the case are being examined, though no foul play has been indicated at this stage. The investigation is expected to provide greater clarity on the sequence of events leading to the tragic incident.
