New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked young people for their enthusiastic response to a video message he shared late Thursday night, saying the feedback and suggestions from viewers had further strengthened his connection with them.
In a short video posted on social media on Friday night, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to those who watched the message and shared their views. He said the interaction had given him an opportunity to connect with young people and added that their support would continue to deepen the bond between them.
The Prime Minister’s earlier video, posted at around midnight, quickly gained significant traction online. It reportedly crossed 2.5 million views within minutes and received more than a million likes on Instagram shortly after being uploaded. The post also coincided with a substantial increase in the Prime Minister’s social media following.
The original video focused on the government’s proposed measures to tackle examination paper leaks. Modi said the Union Cabinet would consider a draft law aimed at introducing fast-track courts and stricter penalties in cases involving paper leaks. He also expressed hope that the proposed legislation could be passed during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Calling paper leaks a serious concern, the Prime Minister said such incidents have caused distress among students and their families. He stressed that the government was committed to strengthening the system and ensuring that those responsible face stringent action.
The issue has remained a major concern among students, particularly following allegations surrounding competitive examinations. Modi said the government’s priority after the NEET controversy was to ensure that affected students did not lose an entire academic year.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has also reportedly encouraged his ministerial colleagues to make greater use of Instagram and other social media platforms to communicate with younger audiences.
Sources said that during a Cabinet meeting, Modi asked ministers about their presence on Instagram and highlighted the platform’s popularity among India’s youth. He reportedly urged ministers to become more active online and use social media as a means of directly engaging with younger citizens.
The developments underline the government’s increasing focus on digital communication, particularly platforms that have a strong presence among younger audiences. The Prime Minister’s late-night video and its subsequent engagement have also highlighted the growing role of social media in political outreach and public communication.
