Mumbai: Producer Namit Malhotra’s upcoming cinematic spectacle, ‘Ramayana,’ has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to manage its international theatrical distribution outside of India. The action-adventure epic, produced under Prime Focus Studios, aims to bring the foundational Indian narrative to global markets on a scale comparable to major Hollywood studio releases.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the feature stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, alongside a supporting cast that includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Vivek Oberoi, and Arun Govil. The film’s score is being composed jointly by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, with visual effects handled by DNEG.
Malhotra, who serves as the founder of Prime Focus Studios and chief executive of DNEG, stated that the partnership provides an opportunity to present the epic’s themes to worldwide audiences with high production values. In conjunction with the announcement, the producers deferred a previously scheduled trailer launch to highlight the international distribution agreement.
The project is structured as a two-part feature, with the first installment scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026.
