Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has announced that its members will abstain from judicial work on Friday, July 24, 2026, in support of advocates observing a hunger strike against the implementation of the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Policy.

In a notice issued on Thursday, the Executive Committee of the Bar Association expressed complete solidarity with the protesting lawyers and resolved to suspend court work for one day as a mark of support for their ongoing agitation.

The Bar Association has urged all its members to extend full cooperation and participate in the collective protest to make the initiative meaningful and effective.

The notice, signed by Parampreet Singh Bajwa (Harry), Honorary Secretary of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, stated that the decision was taken to stand in solidarity with advocates opposing the implementation of the LADC Policy.

With lawyers abstaining from work, judicial proceedings at the Punjab and Haryana High Court are expected to be impacted on July 24, with several matters likely to face adjournments or delays.
