Chandigarh: Monsoon activity across Punjab has begun to show signs of weakening following recent spells of precipitation, according to the latest weather update from the India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh. Despite intermittent rainfall recorded in Jalandhar and surrounding areas on Thursday morning, experts indicate that widespread heavy downpours are unlikely across most parts of the state in the coming days.
A yellow weather alert has been issued for Thursday, July 23, and Saturday, July 25, targeting specific northern and eastern districts. Localized heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is anticipated in pockets of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. Cloud cover across several regions has provided temporary relief with a mild drop in daytime temperatures, though humidity levels are expected to rise as skies clear.
The weather framework is projected to remain relatively calm through the end of the week. For Friday, July 24, meteorologists have issued no weather warnings for Punjab, forecasting mostly cloudy conditions with only isolated light showers. Similarly, clear to partially cloudy skies with minimal rainfall probability are predicted for Sunday, July 26, indicating a broader period of subdued monsoon activity across the region.
