Hyderabad: A 23-year-old cab driver was arrested by the police for allegedly sexually assaulting an airline cabin crew member while she was traveling to the airport, law enforcement officials said on Wednesday. The incident took place on July 20 after the woman booked a cab to reach the airport and boarded the vehicle for her scheduled journey.
According to a senior police official, the cab driver deliberately diverted the vehicle from its regular route toward an isolated location along the way. Once in the secluded area, the driver allegedly sexually assaulted the cabin crew member inside the car. Following the assault, the victim approached the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police Outpost to lodge an official complaint detailing the ordeal.
Based on the woman’s statement, law enforcement authorities registered a case and initiated a targeted investigation to identify the suspect. Police personnel subsequently tracked down and apprehended the 23-year-old driver. Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody as further legal proceedings continue.
