Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India has extended the final deadlines for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls across several states, spanning from Delhi to Karnataka. In the national capital, the formal publication of the final voter list has been deferred to October 19. According to an official communication dispatched to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, the issuance of the draft voter list has been rescheduled to August 17 instead of the previously planned August 5 deadline. Consequently, the vital house-to-house physical verification drive managed by booth level officers will now carry on until August 8, shifting from its original conclusion date of July 29.

Delhi is currently positioned within the third phase of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision exercise, which initially commenced on May 14. Upon the eventual completion of this extensive third phase, the full voter list verification programme will conclude across the entire country, with the sole exceptions of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The adjusted timelines have been introduced by the poll panel following frequent operational modifications caused by diverse administrative factors during the field exercises.

In Punjab, the Election Commission has revised the implementation schedule for the Special Intensive Revision while keeping the crucial qualifying date as October 1. Under the newly updated roadmap for the state, booth level officers are instructed to conclude their door-to-door resident verifications by August 3. The subsequent publication of the draft voter rolls in Punjab is set for August 13, paving the way for the release of the final, authenticated voter list on October 12.

Similarly, the election body has recalibrated the revision timeline for Karnataka to ensure comprehensive voter coverage. Under the revised state schedule, local booth level officers are permitted to continue their house-to-house verification procedures until August 8. The draft electoral roll for Karnataka is scheduled to be made public on August 17, while the final voter list is slated for publication on October 19.

Telangana has also received an updated operational schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision, which similarly adheres to the October 1 voter eligibility qualification date. According to the state’s modified framework, the department will publish the draft voter list on August 10. Following the completion of the designated claims and objections window, the final updated electoral roll for Telangana will be officially released on October 12.
