Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that the life of the great freedom fighter and founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, epitomizes service to the nation, sacrifice, and adherence to principles. Addressing a program in Ambala marking the 125th birth anniversary commemoration of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, he announced that the Ambala Science Center—to be constructed at a cost of ₹85 crore—would be named after Dr. Mookerjee, and a statue of his would be installed near the Martyrs’ Memorial currently under construction. Several senior leaders, including Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, also participated in the event.
The Chief Minister remarked that Dr. Mookerjee’s entire life was dedicated to the national interest and his principles. He noted that a two-year-long birth anniversary celebration is being observed from last year until July 2027, with the aim of taking his ideas and ideals to the masses. Highlighting Dr. Mookerjee’s contributions to education, politics, and nation-building, he stated that Mookerjee prioritized the national interest over power and made the supreme sacrifice for India’s unity and integrity. The Chief Minister added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the abrogation of Article 370 realized Dr. Mookerjee’s resolve that “two flags, two constitutions, and two prime ministers cannot coexist in one nation.”
Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda stated that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was a pioneer of the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India) vision, and that his ideology is being advanced through various national policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He noted that initiatives such as ‘Make in India,’ the New Education Policy, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), defense manufacturing, and semiconductor manufacturing are decisions that further Dr. Mookerjee’s nationalist vision. Praising the development work of Haryana’s “double-engine” government, he remarked that the state’s efforts regarding infrastructure, healthcare services, a transparent recruitment system, and farmers’ welfare are imparting new momentum to development.
