Electric Bus Overturns in Chandigarh, Four Injured

Chandigarh: A Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) electric bus overturned near the Sector-17 bus stand, leaving four passengers injured.

The bus, which had begun its journey from Manimajra and was en route to the Sector-17 terminus, was carrying 12 passengers at the time of the accident. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle appeared to lose balance after the driver struggled to bring it to a halt close to the bus stand.

Officials suspect a mechanical fault, possibly involving the braking system, may have led to the mishap. Police and administration teams quickly reached the site, helping passengers out of the vehicle and ensuring medical assistance. The four injured were taken to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector-16, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident to determine whether technical failure or human error was responsible. Meanwhile, CTU has assured a full inspection of its electric bus fleet to prevent such occurrences in the future.
