Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled the rankings, which evaluate top-performing universities, colleges and institutes across 17 categories.

IIT Madras retained its dominance, securing the top spot in the overall category for the seventh consecutive year. It also held first place in the engineering category for the tenth straight year and led in the new sustainable development and innovations institutions categories. IISc Bengaluru continued its strong performance, finishing second overall while topping the universities and research institutions lists.

Among colleges, Delhi University’s Hindu College ranked first, followed by Miranda House and Kirori Mal College. In the state public universities category, Jadavpur University claimed the top position, ahead of Anna University and Panjab University.

Other highlights include AIIMS Delhi, which secured first place in both the medical and dental categories, Jamia Hamdard leading in pharmacy, IIM Ahmedabad dominating management for the second year in a row, and the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, topping law studies.

The new sustainable development category assessed institutions on environmental practices, with IIT Madras, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, and Jamia Millia Islamia emerging as frontrunners.

Pradhan underlined the rising global recognition of Indian institutions, noting that the number of Indian entries in the QS World University Rankings had grown from 11 to 54. He stressed the importance of data-driven rankings and projected a surge in higher education enrolment by 2030.
