Amritsar: Amritsar is set to witness a demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Friday as the organisation continues its nationwide campaign highlighting issues related to students and the education system. Party founder Abhijit Deepke is expected to lead the gathering and has appealed to young people to assemble near the Golden Gate in the city.
According to Deepke, the protest will be conducted peacefully and will primarily seek accountability over concerns linked to NEET and CBSE examinations. Participants are expected to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while urging authorities to address the grievances of students across the country.
The Amritsar event forms part of a larger cross-country outreach programme launched by the party earlier this week. After beginning in Pune and holding a demonstration in Lucknow, the campaign is scheduled to move through Jaipur, Bengaluru and other cities before culminating at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on June 20.
The Cockroach Janata Party came into existence following remarks made during a court hearing that sparked widespread debate on social media. The statement led to the formation of the organisation, which claims to represent unemployed youth and citizens seeking greater accountability in public institutions.
Ahead of the Punjab protest, Deepke also addressed speculation surrounding a photograph that allegedly showed him with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He clarified that the image circulating online was created using artificial intelligence and denied claims that he had met the Prime Minister during his stay in the United States.
The party’s leadership maintains that its ongoing demonstrations are intended to remain peaceful and democratic, with a focus on student welfare and transparency in the education sector. Organisers believe that collective public participation can amplify the concerns of students and encourage meaningful dialogue on examination-related issues.
As the campaign reaches Punjab, local authorities are expected to monitor the gathering while participants prepare to voice their demands in what could become another significant stop in the party’s nationwide mobilisation.
