Amritsar: After drawing attention through protests in Delhi and Pune, the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to bring its campaign to Punjab. Founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Friday that the organisation will hold a demonstration in Amritsar on June 13, focusing on alleged irregularities in national examinations and demanding accountability from the government.
Sharing the announcement on social media platforms X and Instagram, Dipke said the protest would take place at Golden Gate in Amritsar at 4 pm. He appealed to students, aspirants and volunteers to participate in what he described as a peaceful movement seeking reforms in the education system.
The group has gained visibility in recent months by organising protests over concerns related to the NEET and CBSE examination controversies. CJP has been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and calling for greater transparency and accountability in the conduct of competitive examinations.
What began as an online campaign has gradually expanded into on-ground demonstrations, attracting support from students frustrated over examination-related issues. The movement, often described by supporters as a voice of India’s younger generation, has sparked discussions around educational reforms and the credibility of recruitment and entrance tests.
The upcoming protest in Amritsar marks the organisation’s entry into Punjab, a state with a large student population and growing political activity ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Political observers believe that if the movement succeeds in mobilising young voters, it could add a new dimension to the state’s political discourse.
While mainstream political parties have already begun strengthening their outreach efforts ahead of the elections, the response to CJP’s protest may indicate how strongly education-related issues resonate with Punjab’s youth.
