New Delhi: Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong will arrive in India on Tuesday for a three-day official visit, marking his first trip since taking office. The visit, taking place at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore.

Wong, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation that includes Cabinet ministers and senior officials, is set for a packed schedule. On September 4, he will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi, where discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, digital innovation, defence, regional security, and pressing global challenges.

During his visit, Wong will also call on President Droupadi Murmu and meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with other senior leaders. The trip is seen as a reaffirmation of the close strategic partnership between India and Singapore, which was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024.

Officials said the upcoming talks will provide an opportunity to chart a roadmap for future engagement under India’s ‘Act East’ policy while reviewing the breadth of existing cooperation. Both sides are expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of shared concern, further strengthening their long-standing partnership.
