Punjab News: Punjab Ready for Special Intensive Revision 2026, Door-to-Door Electoral Roll Verification to Begin from June 25

Chandigarh, June 10: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mrs. Anindita Mitra on Wednesday said that accurate electoral rolls are essential for strengthening democratic values and ensuring fair elections. She was speaking at the valedictory session of a three-day State-Level Training Programme organized by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, ahead of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise.

The Special Intensive Revision campaign is scheduled to begin across Punjab on June 25, 2026, and will involve a comprehensive door-to-door verification of voter records.

Election Department Fully Prepared for SIR-2026

The training programme was conducted from June 8 to June 10, 2026, and was attended by nearly 650 officials and employees representing all 117 Assembly Constituencies across Punjab’s 23 districts.

Participants included Additional District Election Officers (ADEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Election Tehsildars, District Master Level Trainers (DMLTs), and technical staff.

Mrs. Mitra said that with the successful completion of the training programme, the Election Department is fully prepared to carry out the Special Intensive Revision exercise efficiently across the state.

She emphasized that all stakeholders must implement the Election Commission of India’s guidelines with dedication and sincerity to ensure the accuracy and reliability of voter lists.

BLO and BLA Training from June 11

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that training programmes for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) will be conducted in all districts from June 11 to June 24, 2026 as part of preparations for the revision exercise.

During the programme, Mrs. Mitra interacted with participants and addressed their queries related to the Special Intensive Revision process. IT experts also provided practical training on various digital and technical modules to help officials effectively implement the voter verification campaign.

The initiative aims to ensure that electoral rolls remain updated, accurate, and inclusive, thereby strengthening the electoral process across Punjab.
