Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh today called upon legislators and public representatives to dedicate themselves to the four foundational pillars of the Viksit Bharat programme—Youth, Poor, Women and Farmers—stating that the vision of an inclusive and developed India, as envisioned by Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi, is a collective national responsibility.
The Governor was addressing the presiding officers and distinguished delegates at the valedictory session of the 2nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference, held in Chandigarh. The conference witnessed the participation of Presiding Officers and distinguished delegates from across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that parliamentary democracy is not merely about legislation but is about accountability with inclusion, which leads to last mile development in real sense of the term ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last person in society. He urged delegates to invest their energy, time and resources in empowering those who remain less privileged, adding that these sections form the grassroots foundation of India’s long-term development strategy.
Expressing satisfaction over the deliberations held during the conference, Prof. Ghosh said that the discussions on the theme, “Role of Aware Society and Legislators in Realizing Future Challenges and Goals of Viksit Bharat 2047,” were insightful, forward-looking, and of the highest order. He said that such meaningful exchanges strengthen democratic institutions and help chart a clear roadmap for the nation’s future.
The Governor also expressed his gratitude to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for his visionary initiative in bringing together representatives from various legislatures on a common platform. He said that the conference provided an invaluable opportunity for deliberations on parliamentary democracy, legislative practices, democratic governance, and issues of mutual interest among legislatures.
Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh urged all participating delegates to carry forward the resolutions, recommendations, and insights emerging from the conference to their respective legislative assemblies and institutions, thereby contributing meaningfully towards the realization of an inclusive and prosperous Viksit Bharat.
Congratulating the Haryana Legislative Assembly and its Speaker, Harvinder Kalyan, for the successful organization of the conference, the Governor lauded the meticulous arrangements extended to the delegates, which contributed significantly to the success of the event.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha Sh Harivansh, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Harvinder Kalyan; Deputy Speaker Dr Krishan Lal Mirdha along with Speakers, Deputy Chairmen and Deputy Speakers from various States were also present on this occasion.
