Chandigarh, June 5: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced that eligible women across the state will begin receiving financial assistance under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna from July 1, 2026. Reviewing the progress of the flagship initiative, the Chief Minister said that every eligible woman in Punjab will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will receive ₹1,500 per month. The financial assistance will be directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Around 97% Women Expected to Benefit

To ensure smooth implementation, the Punjab Government has allocated ₹9,300 crore in the state budget for the scheme.
The Chief Minister said the initiative is not only about financial assistance but also about providing women with dignity and confidence. He noted that financially empowered women contribute significantly to household welfare, social development and economic decision-making.
He added that women play a vital role in society and their empowerment remains a key priority for the government.
Registration Process Underway Across Punjab
The Chief Minister informed that the registration process has already started across the state and lakhs of women are being enrolled every day.
To facilitate registrations, around two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis have been assigned the responsibility of identifying and registering eligible beneficiaries.
According to the government, registration is being carried out through Anganwadi Centres, Sewa Kendras and other locations designated by Deputy Commissioners in their respective districts.
Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed confidence that the scheme would become a major step towards women’s empowerment in Punjab. He said the initiative would provide financial security to women and help them participate more actively in social and economic activities.
The Punjab Government believes that the scheme will benefit millions of women across the state and contribute to improving their overall quality of life while promoting financial inclusion and social empowerment.
