New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday revealed that its online portal for re-evaluation and other post-result services was targeted by a major cyberattack during the ongoing application process for Class 10 and Class 12 students.

According to the board, the portal experienced an unprecedented surge of nearly 15 lakh hits within just two minutes, severely affecting access to services such as verification of marks, re-evaluation requests and applications for photocopies of answer sheets.

CBSE said the disruption coincided with a period of high student activity following the announcement of board examination results and was aggravated by what appeared to be coordinated cyberattacks.

The board stated that its technical teams responded immediately, monitoring the situation and implementing measures to restore normal functioning of the platform.

In its official statement, CBSE assured students and parents that no personal data or student records were compromised during the incident. The board said there was no evidence of any data breach and that all information remained secure despite the attempted intrusion.

Officials added that additional cybersecurity protocols have now been deployed to strengthen the portal’s infrastructure and improve its ability to handle large volumes of traffic in the future.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing cybersecurity challenges faced by educational institutions managing digital services for millions of students across the country.

CBSE has urged students not to panic and advised them to rely only on official notifications and announcements regarding re-evaluation services and application deadlines.
