New Delhi: Punjab Congress in-charge and AICC General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday ruled out any change in the leadership of the Punjab Congress, putting an end to speculation over a possible organisational reshuffle ahead of the state Assembly elections.
Speaking to the media after a high-level meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and party general secretary K.C. Venugopal, Baghel said the party high command has decided to maintain the existing leadership structure in Punjab.
He said the Congress will contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections in a united manner under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
Baghel’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the party regarding preparations for the Assembly elections and reports suggesting possible changes in the state unit’s leadership. However, he made it clear that the central leadership has full confidence in the current Punjab Congress setup.
The meeting focused on strengthening the party’s organisational structure and formulating its strategy for the upcoming electoral battle in Punjab.
