Amritsar – A government school teacher was brutally murdered by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants near Malowal village in the Talwandi area of Amritsar district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The deceased has been identified as Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Talwandi village, who was working as an Art and Craft teacher at Government Senior Secondary School, Gehri Mandi.
According to police, Jagdeep Singh’s body was found lying by the roadside with visible injury marks, indicating that he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons. The incident came to light after locals spotted the body and informed authorities.
Family members said Jagdeep Singh had gone to drop his daughter at a tuition centre and was returning home when the attack took place. His uncle, Surinder Singh, stated that the family has no information about what transpired during his journey back.
Relatives expressed shock over the killing, insisting that Jagdeep Singh had no known disputes, enmity or personal conflicts. They described him as a soft-spoken and respected member of the community who was dedicated to his profession and well-regarded by students and villagers alike.
Following the incident, family members and residents gathered at the scene, demanding that the perpetrators be identified and brought to justice.
Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Manjit Singh of Tarsikka Police Station said preliminary evidence suggests that the attackers used sharp-edged weapons to carry out the murder. Police teams have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the crime.
The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and analysing technical evidence to trace the assailants and reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the murder.
Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
