Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami visited Sri Guru Ram Das Hospital on Sunday to personally monitor the medical treatment being provided to the devotees injured in the structural collapse at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji. Accompanied by senior SGPC member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta and SGPC Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, the top Sikh administrative delegation met with the hospitalized victims and their anxious families to offer prayers and review the ongoing healthcare arrangements.
During his interactive rounds through the emergency and intensive care units, the SGPC chief spending significant time listening to the accounts of the injured women and reassured them that the apex religious body would bear the entire financial responsibility for their medical recovery. Dhami directed the hospital administration to deploy their finest medical teams and utilize all necessary resources to ensure the swift recovery of those in critical condition. He emphasized that the committee stands firmly with the grieving families during this challenging hour and will provide comprehensive long-term rehabilitation support to everyone affected by the mishap.
The high-level hospital visit transpired just hours after a major structural failure at the historic shrine complex resulted in the tragic loss of two female lives and left several others wounded. The victims were hit by heavy iron shuttering plates that unexpectedly detached from an under-construction langar hall extension and plunged into the congregation area below. As multiple independent inquiries get underway to determine the exact technical lapses behind the collapse, the SGPC leadership has pledged absolute transparency in investigating the construction methods used by the project executors.
