Anti-Drug Drive Uninterrupted in Ferozepur Despite Floods

Ferozepur: The Punjab Government’s campaign War Against Drugs continues strongly despite heavy floods in Ferozepur, with the Health Department ensuring uninterrupted treatment for de-addiction patients. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has emphasized that the state remains committed to making Punjab drug-free, even in the face of natural calamities.

Many patients had already registered at de-addiction centers across the district to begin their recovery. However, floodwaters created major hurdles for patients from affected villages, making it difficult for them to reach treatment centers and continue their prescribed medicine courses.

To overcome this, the Health Department organized a special medical camp at the Arifke relief base camp under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Raju Chauhan. During the camp, 37 pre-registered patients were provided with a week’s supply of medicines to ensure their treatment was not disrupted.

Dr. Rajwinder Kaur said that the department is also holding medical camps in relief shelters and affected villages to provide medicines, treatment, and healthcare support, including facilities for pregnant women. She added that counselling sessions are being conducted alongside treatment to keep patients mentally strong during this crisis.

District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma and Deputy Mass Media Officer Ankush Bhandari also raised awareness about flood-related health risks, urging people to take precautions against diseases likely to spread in such conditions.
