Punjab Sets Example for Nation with Strictest Anti-Sacrilege Law: Bhagwant Mann

PATNA: Bhagwant Singh Mann visited Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, the sacred birthplace of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and paid obeisance while praying for the prosperity, well-being and Chardi Kala of Punjab, Punjabis and the global Sikh Sangat. During his visit, the Punjab Chief Minister said that Punjab has shown the entire country the path to protecting the honour of Guru Sahiban by enacting the strictest law against beadbi. He expressed gratitude to Guru Sahib for blessing the state with the opportunity to bring a stringent law aimed at preserving the sanctity and dignity of the holy Shabad Guru.

Calling beadbi an unforgivable crime against the faith of millions, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged all state governments across the country to implement similarly tough laws. He asserted that Punjab was ready to extend every possible support in this regard. The Chief Minister made it clear that anyone found guilty of committing beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Punjab would face strict punishment, including life imprisonment, adding that no act hurting religious sentiments would be tolerated. He also said that the teachings of Guru Sahib continue to inspire humanity towards truth, compassion, communal harmony and universal brotherhood.

Sharing moments from his visit on social media, CM Mann said he felt spiritually rejuvenated after paying obeisance at the holy shrine and sought blessings to continue serving the people of Punjab with dedication and commitment. Reiterating the Punjab Government’s resolve to safeguard the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, he expressed hope that Guru Sahib would continue to bless everyone and guide Punjab towards greater peace, prosperity and a Rangla Punjab. Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and other senior officials also accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
