FIR Against Yograj Singh Under Scrutiny After Chandigarh Police Correct Address Error

Chandigarh: Fresh developments have emerged in the case registered against former cricketer father and actor Yograj Singh after procedural discrepancies were found in the FIR filed at Chandigarh’s Sector-36 police station.

Police officials acknowledged that the complaint initially carried an incorrect address for Yograj Singh, with records mistakenly reflecting the address of the Punjab Women’s Commission instead of his residential details.

Sources said the error occurred during the registration process when information was allegedly copied from official documents attached with the complaint. The discrepancy was later detected and corrected by the police.

Sector-36 Station House Officer Inspector Jitender Pal stated that the mistake was made by a computer operator who entered details directly from the paperwork submitted by the Punjab Women’s Commission without independent verification.

He added that the record has now been amended and that a formal notice will shortly be served to Yograj Singh, asking him to join the investigation.

The controversy began after two Chandigarh-based advocates submitted a complaint on Wednesday, objecting to remarks allegedly made by Yograj in a video clip circulating widely on social media.

According to the complainants, the clip contains objectionable comments directed at women and warrants legal scrutiny.

The disputed footage is reportedly taken from an episode of the Hindi web series Lukkhe, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 8, 2026.

Police sources said the complainant was not physically present at the station when the FIR was initially processed, which has also raised questions regarding procedural compliance during registration.

Investigators are now reviewing the original complaint, video material and supporting documentation as part of the inquiry.

Officials maintained that the case is being examined on legal merit and that all necessary steps will be taken in accordance with due process as the investigation progresses.
