Mumbai: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday announced the creation of Reliance Intelligence, a wholly-owned subsidiary that will develop large-scale artificial intelligence infrastructure and make AI accessible to all. The announcement was made during the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Ambani said Reliance Intelligence will establish gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centres powered by green energy, designed to support AI training and inference on a national scale. Work has already begun in Jamnagar, where these facilities are being built in phases to match India’s expanding digital needs.
“A decade ago, digital services became a new growth engine for Reliance. Now, the opportunity before us with AI is just as large, if not larger. Jio promised and delivered digital everywhere and for every Indian. Similarly, Reliance Intelligence promises to deliver AI everywhere for every Indian,” Ambani told shareholders.
The new venture has been launched with four key missions: to build India’s next-generation AI infrastructure, foster global technology partnerships, create AI services tailored for India, and nurture AI talent.
Ambani highlighted that Reliance Intelligence will bring together leading global partners and open-source communities to advance innovation. It will also develop trusted and affordable AI solutions for consumers, businesses, and critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture.
He added that the subsidiary will serve as a hub for world-class researchers, engineers, and designers, combining rapid research with strong engineering to transform ideas into real-world innovations.
Calling artificial intelligence a modern-day Kamdhenu, Ambani underlined its transformative potential. He also pointed to the convergence of AI, clean energy, and genomics as three disruptive forces shaping a future of “superabundance and super affordability.”
