Faridabad: Popular social media personality and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav has reportedly approached police after receiving an alleged extortion threat demanding Rs 10 crore from a person claiming links with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to police sources, the threat was delivered through a WhatsApp message sent from an international number on May 5. In his complaint, Elvish stated that he initially received a call from an overseas number, which he was unable to answer. Soon after, threatening messages were allegedly sent to both him and his father, Ram Avtar Yadav.
The sender reportedly claimed close association with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and demanded payment within 48 hours. The message allegedly warned of serious consequences, including threats to shoot the influencer if the money was not paid.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the Sector-56 Police Station in Gurugram. The matter has since been transferred to the Crime Branch, which has begun a detailed investigation to trace the source of the international communication and determine whether the threat is genuine.
The development has revived concerns over an earlier attack outside Elvish Yadav’s residence last year. On August 17, 2025, unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire near his home after arriving on motorcycles, discharging multiple rounds before fleeing.
Police had arrested several suspects in connection with that shooting. Among those taken into custody were Ishant by the Faridabad Crime Branch and another accused, Jatin, who was apprehended along the Gurugram-Faridabad route. Two more suspects, identified as Gaurav and Aditya, were later arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell.
Investigators are now examining whether the latest extortion message has any direct or indirect link to the earlier firing case. Officials said all possible angles, including organised criminal involvement and misuse of gang names for intimidation, are being thoroughly investigated.
