Punjab Governor Meets Amit Shah, Thanks Centre for Rs 125 Crore Grant to Chandigarh MC

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Guwahati on Friday and conveyed his gratitude for the Centre’s approval of Rs 125 crore for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

During the meeting, held at Koinadhara Guest House as part of the Governor’s two-day visit to Assam, Kataria said the financial support would go a long way in improving civic infrastructure and enhancing public services in the Union Territory.

He also briefed the Home Minister about the ongoing flood situation in Punjab, sharing updates on rescue and relief operations in the affected districts. The Governor underlined the need for sustained cooperation in disaster management and rehabilitation efforts.

Both leaders also exchanged views on regional development, governance, and ways to strengthen disaster preparedness in the future.
