Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has appealed to media personnel and vloggers to refrain from conducting interviews or recording interactions with devotees inside the Golden Temple premises, citing concerns over maintaining the sanctity of the shrine.
SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan said that thousands of devotees visit the holy site daily with deep faith, and recording or questioning them within the parikrama can cause inconvenience and hurt religious sentiments.
He reiterated that directives issued by the Akal Takht Sahib already prohibit media interactions inside the parikrama and urged all journalists and content creators to strictly adhere to these guidelines.
Mannan advised that any public reactions or interviews should be conducted only at designated locations outside the shrine to ensure that devotees are not disturbed during their visit.
Referring to a recent incident where sevadars stopped a private channel from filming conversations within the premises, he said it was unfortunate that questions were raised against those enforcing the rules. He stressed that media must respect established religious protocols.
The SGPC also warned against the misuse of artificial intelligence in creating or circulating objectionable content related to Sikh Gurus, religious symbols or the Golden Temple. Mannan urged media outlets to avoid sharing such material and, if necessary, report only factual details without displaying offensive visuals.
He also appealed to the public not to circulate sensitive content online and instead report such instances to the concerned authorities or social media platforms.
