Hoshiarpur: The growing menace of stray dogs in Punjab has once again come under scrutiny after a tragic incident in Hoshiarpur district, where an eight-year-old girl lost her life in a brutal attack. The incident has raised serious questions over the effectiveness of administrative measures aimed at controlling the stray dog population.
According to information, the incident occurred in Kharl Khurd village under the Tanda Urmur block. The victim, identified as Saloni, had stepped out of her house around 8 am when a pack of stray dogs allegedly surrounded her on the way and attacked her. The dogs mauled the child, leading to her death on the spot.
Family members began searching for the girl when she did not return home and later found her lying on the road in a critical condition. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The incident has left the family devastated, with relatives inconsolable over the loss. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.
