Dharamshala: Several passengers were injured, including at least four in critical condition, after a private bus overturned in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district on Saturday, officials said.

The bus, identified as ‘Devi Darshan’, was travelling from Chamba to Una with over 40 passengers when the accident occurred around 11 am near the Shani Dev temple in Nurpur.

Preliminary reports suggest the driver may have suffered a heart attack, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. However, authorities have not ruled out other possibilities, including a tyre burst, and said the exact cause will be confirmed after investigation.

Locals were the first to reach the spot and assisted in rescue efforts, helping pull passengers out of the overturned bus. The injured were rushed to the civil hospital in Nurpur, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Officials said more than five passengers sustained serious injuries, with at least four reported to be in critical condition.

Police teams have reached the site and initiated an inquiry into the incident. The administration has assured that all necessary medical care is being provided to the injured.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
