Attari–Wagah Beating Retreat Ceremony Rescheduled Amid Rising Summer Heat

Amritsar: The daily Beating Retreat ceremony at the Attari–Wagah Border will now take place later in the evening, with authorities announcing revised timings to cope with soaring temperatures in the region.

According to officials from the Border Security Force, the ceremony will be held between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm starting Friday, replacing the earlier 5:30 pm schedule. The adjustment is part of routine seasonal changes, typically made to account for longer daylight hours and extreme weather conditions during peak summer.

The ceremony, jointly conducted by India’s BSF personnel and Pakistan’s Rangers, remains one of the most prominent and visually striking displays of military precision and national pride along the international border. High-energy drills, synchronized marching, and ceremonial flag-lowering rituals continue to draw large crowds every evening.

Visitors from across India and abroad gather at the joint check post to witness the patriotic spectacle, marked by loud slogans, coordinated movements, and a charged atmosphere reflecting the significance of the border.

Authorities have advised spectators to plan their visit accordingly and reach early to secure seating, especially during peak tourist days. Despite the change in timing, the ceremony continues to stand as a powerful symbol of discipline, tradition, and national identity.
