Rudraprayag: With the annual pilgrimage season approaching, authorities in Uttarakhand have introduced a detailed traffic management framework to ensure hassle-free travel for devotees heading to Kedarnath.

The plan aims to manage the anticipated increase in vehicular movement along key routes leading to the shrine, covering both highways and smaller connecting roads. Officials said police personnel will be stationed at strategic points to regulate traffic flow and assist pilgrims throughout the journey.

Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar highlighted that the district has been divided into two super zones and 11 sectors to enhance monitoring and control. “In addition, 13 mobile teams have been deployed to respond swiftly to any emergencies or congestion-related issues,” she said.

To ensure seamless coordination, authorities have also linked operations with adjoining districts, allowing better management of traffic across regional boundaries. A contingency diversion plan has been put in place to tackle sudden surges in vehicle numbers or unforeseen disruptions.

Officials stated that the strategy will be implemented in stages, depending on the flow of pilgrims, with constant monitoring to make necessary adjustments in real time.

The initiative is focused on ensuring safety, reducing travel delays, and providing a smoother experience for thousands of devotees expected to undertake the journey to the Himalayan temple in the coming weeks.
