Chandigarh, August 26: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Tuesday that all government and private schools across the state will remain closed from August 27 to August 30 due to heavy rainfall.

He said the decision was taken keeping in view continuous downpours in recent days and the forecast by the Meteorological Department, which has predicted further heavy rainfall in the coming days. The Chief Minister emphasized that the step has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of schoolchildren.

The government has appealed to parents and citizens to remain cautious and follow advisories, as several districts are already experiencing waterlogging and related disruptions.
