Fresh Threat Emails Sent to Chandigarh Schools, Saupin’s Among Targets; Premises Declared Safe

Chandigarh: Panic briefly gripped parts of the city on Thursday morning after several educational institutions, including Saupin’s School, received threatening emails. The messages triggered immediate security responses, with authorities moving quickly to assess the situation.

Police teams, along with bomb disposal and detection squads, carried out detailed inspections across the affected campuses. After thorough searches, officials confirmed that no explosives or suspicious materials were found, and all school premises were declared secure.

According to sources, the emails contained alarming and provocative language aimed at creating fear among students, staff, and the general public. Authorities believe the intent was to disrupt normal functioning and spread panic rather than signal a credible threat.

This incident follows a similar pattern observed earlier this month. On April 7, multiple schools across Chandigarh—including St. Stephen’s School, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Shivalik Public School, and Ryan International School—had also received similar threatening messages. Those alerts were later determined to be hoaxes.

Investigators had traced the earlier emails to an unidentified sender using a suspicious email ID. The messages at the time included threats targeting prominent locations such as educational institutions and government buildings in the city.

Officials have assured that efforts are underway to track down those responsible for the repeated threats. Meanwhile, citizens have been advised not to panic and to rely only on verified information as security agencies continue their probe.
