Amravati: The Maharashtra administration took decisive action on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in response to a shocking sexual exploitation scandal in the Paratwada and Achalpur areas of Amravati district. Authorities deployed a bulldozer to demolish the illegal portions of the residence of the primary accused, 19-year-old Mohammad Ayaz (alias Tanveer). To ensure a comprehensive investigation into the vast digital evidence and potential trafficking links, the state has constituted a 46-member Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The case surfaced after several obscene videos involving minor girls began circulating on social media, prompting a formal complaint from Rajya Sabha MP Anil Bonde. The SIT, which includes cyber experts and senior police officials, is tasked with identifying all victims and tracing the distribution network of the illicit content. Police have currently arrested four individuals, including Tanveer, who were presented in court today and remanded to police custody until April 21, 2026.

Key investigation details:

  • Scale of Crime: Investigators have reportedly discovered over 350 explicit videos on the accused’s devices. Initial estimates suggest that up to 180 girls may have been targeted through WhatsApp and Snapchat “love traps.”

  • Modus Operandi: The accused allegedly lured minor girls into relationships, took them to cities like Mumbai and Pune, and recorded compromising videos to blackmail them into further exploitation or prostitution.

  • Community and Legal Action: Local members of the Muslim community joined protesters at the police station to demand the strictest possible punishment for the accused. The police have invoked sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act.

  • Appeal to Victims: While no victims have yet come forward directly due to social stigma, the SIT has assured that the identity of any family or survivor who shares information will remain strictly confidential.

The district administration has signaled a “zero tolerance” policy toward such organized crimes, with the bulldozer action serving as a stern warning against those involved in the systematic exploitation of minors.
