Bahadurgarh (Haryana): A 22-year-old toll worker was killed after being run over by a Haryana Roadways bus at the Rohad toll plaza in Bahadurgarh, triggering a police investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Kapil, son of Anand, a resident of Sampla. He had joined duty just a day earlier, and the tragic accident claimed his life on his very first day at work.

According to initial reports, a Haryana Roadways bus from the Hansi depot was en route to Delhi when the incident occurred. The driver, identified as Vishwajeet, allegedly tried to pass the toll plaza without paying the fee. When Kapil stood in front of the bus to stop it, the driver rammed the vehicle into him, crushing him before fleeing the scene.

Kapil was rushed to PGI Rohtak for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem. Officials said a case will be registered based on the complaint of the victim’s family, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the toll plaza. The footage reportedly shows the bus hitting the toll worker, which is now being used as key evidence in the investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the toll plaza had recently been allotted to a Rajasthan-based company, which had recruited new staff, including Kapil. His death on the very first day of duty has raised serious concerns over safety and enforcement at toll points.
