New Delhi: The performance of Members of Parliament from Punjab during the recent Budget Session has revealed a mixed picture, with some leaders excelling in attendance and participation, while others lagged behind.

Senior Congress leader Amar Singh recorded a perfect 100% attendance in the Lok Sabha, making him the most consistent attendee from the state. Close behind in the Rajya Sabha were BJP’s Satnam Singh Sandhu and AAP’s Raghav Chadha, both registering an attendance of 96.7%.

At the other end of the spectrum, Congress MP Sarabjeet Khalsa had the lowest attendance at just 20%, followed by AAP’s Harbhajan Singh, who attended 25.8% of the sittings.

In terms of overall parliamentary performance, Satnam Sandhu emerged as the most active MP from Punjab. He raised 51 questions, made several Zero Hour mentions, and introduced three private member bills. AAP’s Sandeep Pathak followed closely with 49 questions and multiple interventions, while Raghav Chadha and Ashok Mittal also remained highly engaged, each raising 48 questions.

Mittal, who recently replaced Chadha as AAP’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, maintained a strong presence with over 87% attendance and consistent participation in debates and references.

Among other MPs, attendance levels varied significantly. AAP’s Malvinder Kang and Congress’s Sher Singh Ghubaya recorded relatively high attendance, while several others, including Vikramjit Sahney and Rajinder Gupta, reported comparatively lower participation.

On the Congress side, Charanjit Singh Channi led in terms of questions asked, followed by Amar Singh and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal maintained steady attendance and raised 17 questions during the session.

The data highlights differing levels of engagement among Punjab’s MPs, reflecting varied approaches to legislative responsibilities during one of Parliament’s key sessions.
