Gurdaspur: In a major counter-terrorism operation, teams from District Amritsar Rural Police, District Gurdaspur Police, and SSOC Amritsar, in coordination with central agencies, have dismantled an ISI-sponsored terror module allegedly run by a foreign-based handler, arresting two suspects.
The operation, described by officials as a “major breakthrough,” led to the recovery of several explosives and materials indicating plans for high-impact attacks, including: five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, one kilogram of high explosives packed with nails, and a Baofeng walkie-talkie with cable and trigger mechanism.
Authorities said the seizures suggest the module was preparing for attacks intended to disrupt public peace and safety in Punjab.
An FIR has been registered at PS Kalanaur, Gurdaspur under the Explosive Substances Act, with further investigations underway to trace the network’s foreign handlers and local support cells.
Punjab Police emphasized its ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that the collaborative operation underscores the force’s dedication to ensuring the security and safety of citizens across the state.
