Kullu: A serious mishap was narrowly avoided in Manikarna Valley when a massive rock broke loose from a hillside and crashed onto a private bus near Sarsari. One passenger, reported to be of Nepali origin, sustained injuries in the incident.
Local residents rushed to assist and helped shift the injured passenger to the Regional Hospital in Kullu, where doctors confirmed that he is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
The landslide also caused minor damage to a car passing by the stretch at the time. Authorities said the incident highlights the continuing risks posed by incessant rainfall in the Kullu region, which has triggered multiple cases of falling rocks and mudslides along hill roads in recent days.
The district administration has issued an advisory urging commuters to exercise caution. โPeople should avoid non-essential travel in vulnerable areas as the risk of sudden landslides remains high,โ officials said.
With the monsoon still active in Himachal Pradesh, several roads across Kullu are witnessing frequent blockages and falling debris, leaving travelers and locals on high alert.
