Shimla: The higher regions of Himachal Pradesh witnessed fresh snowfall over the weekend, while light to moderate rainfall was recorded across several other districts, following weather alerts issued by the Meteorological Department. Lahaul and Spiti reported isolated snowfall, adding to the state’s ongoing winter-like conditions.
Among rainfall measurements, Solan received the heaviest precipitation at 18.4 mm, followed by Manali with 14 mm and Bhuntar with 8 mm. Shimla, Mandi, and Kangra recorded around 4 mm of rain each.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that the current weather spell will persist across the state until April 4. An orange alert has been issued for Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts for March 30, warning of possible hailstorms, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in isolated areas. Meanwhile, a yellow alert covers Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Chamba districts, where thunderstorms and strong winds are expected intermittently.
Authorities further caution that weather activity is likely to intensify on April 3 and 4, with heavier rainfall and snowfall predicted across Himachal Pradesh.
