Noida: A major fire erupted at an electric meter manufacturing unit in Noida on Thursday morning, injuring at least 26 workers and triggering a large-scale rescue effort, officials said.

The incident occurred at the Capital Power System Limited factory located in Sector 4 under the jurisdiction of the Phase 1 police station. According to authorities, nearly 240 employees were inside the facility when flames began spreading through parts of the building.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the fire. Firefighters and rescue personnel worked quickly to evacuate workers who had become trapped inside the premises. Officials said several windows of the factory had to be broken to help people escape safely.

Around 20 fire engines were deployed to the location as crews battled the blaze and tried to prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

Police confirmed that 26 workers sustained injuries during the incident. The injured were taken to the district hospital for medical treatment. According to Manisha Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, some of the victims required intensive care while others suffered fractures and minor injuries.

“Several injured workers are being treated in the ICU, while others are receiving medical care for fractures and burns. All patients are currently reported to be in stable condition,” the officer said.

Authorities have not yet determined what triggered the fire, and an investigation is expected to begin once the situation at the factory is fully under control.

Officials are also reviewing safety measures at the facility as firefighters continue efforts to completely extinguish the flames.
