Jalandhar– A shocking case from Phillaur in Jalandhar has triggered swift action from both the Punjab State Women’s Commission and the police. A 19-year-old girl was allegedly drugged, raped, and filmed by two youths, who later circulated the obscene video on social media.

Taking suo motu cognizance, Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill called the incident “extremely shameful” and demanded strict action. She directed officials to submit a detailed report by August 22, warning that the commission would intervene if police delay justice.

Meanwhile, Jalandhar Rural Police have registered FIR No. 76 against the accused under charges of rape and other sections. SSP Harvinder Virk confirmed that the accused have been identified as 18-year-old Prabhjeet Singh of Nakodar and 19-year-old Inderjot Singh of Kangniwal, Jamsher. A special investigation team has been formed, and lookout notices have been issued to trace the duo. Raids are underway for their arrest.

The Women’s Commission expressed concern over the delay in initial police action, stressing that justice for the survivor is the top priority. The incident has left the victim and her family deeply traumatized.
