GHAZIABAD — A 50-year-old YouTuber, known for his controversial social media content, is fighting for his life after being brutally stabbed multiple times in the Loni area of Ghaziabad on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Salim Ahmed, popularly known by his online alias “Salim Wastik,” was attacked in his office in the Ali Garden locality shortly after returning from morning prayers. The incident has triggered a high-level response from the state government, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath vowing that “those who play with law and order will not be spared.”
According to the police, the attack was carried out by two bike-borne individuals wearing helmets to conceal their identities. Witnesses reported seeing the assailants loitering near Ahmed’s office before they barged inside and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. Ahmed sustained life-threatening injuries to his neck, abdomen, and ear. Local residents, alerted by the commotion, rushed to the scene and shifted him to a local hospital in Loni. Given his critical condition, he was later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital in Delhi for advanced medical care.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Loni, Siddhartha Gautam, stated that a preliminary investigation suggests the motive may be linked to Ahmed’s YouTube channel. Ahmed frequently posted videos allegedly criticizing certain religious practices and social norms within the Muslim community, which had reportedly made him a target of local ire. “We are investigating the content of his channel as a potential trigger for this targeted assault,” the ACP added. An FIR has been registered based on a complaint by Ahmed’s son, Usman, naming seven individuals suspected of involvement in the conspiracy.
The incident has drawn a stern warning from the Chief Minister’s office. In a formal statement on Saturday, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized that there is “no place for terror in Uttar Pradesh” and directed the police to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits. Police teams are currently scanning CCTV footage from the Ali Garden area and conducting raids across Ghaziabad to trace the escape route of the bike-borne attackers. As tensions simmer in the locality, additional police personnel have been deployed to maintain peace and prevent any communal flare-ups.
