Chandigarh, 27 February 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President Aman Arora on Friday addressed a press conference following a court order discharging AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, senior leader Manish Sisodia, and others in the excise policy case. Arora described the development as a “victory of truth and justice.”
Speaking to the media, Arora said that while legal processes may take time, “truth cannot be defeated.” He alleged that the case had been politically motivated and claimed that the court’s order exposed what he termed as “fabricated allegations.” He was joined at the press conference by Punjab Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Hardeep Singh Mundian.
Court Observations Cited by AAP
Arora stated that the special court had rejected the prosecution’s case and observed that there was no prima facie evidence to proceed. According to him, the court found the theory of conspiracy to lack substantive material. He further claimed that the court made observations regarding the role of investigative agencies.
He alleged that the case had been pursued in an attempt to politically target AAP leaders. Referring to the legal proceedings, Arora said that Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia had faced prolonged legal scrutiny, which he described as damaging to their public image.
Allegations Against Central Agencies
The AAP Punjab President reiterated allegations that central investigative agencies had been misused for political purposes. He claimed that the party leadership was targeted due to its growing popularity in different states.
Arora also demanded a public apology from the Union government leadership, alleging that the case was part of a broader political strategy.
Concluding his remarks, Aman Arora urged the Union government to focus on governance and development issues. He said political competition should revolve around public service and policy performance rather than legal battles.
The BJP has not yet issued an immediate response to the statements made during the press conference.
