Chandigarh/New Delhi, 20 February 2026: In a move aimed at reshaping the future of school education in Punjab, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains led a high-level delegation to the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, exploring how Artificial Intelligence can enhance learning outcomes for lakhs of students across the state.
The visit signals Punjab’s intent to integrate AI-driven solutions into its government school network, focusing on personalised learning, foundational literacy, and real-time governance monitoring.

Strategic Talks with Global Technology Firms
During the Expo, the Punjab delegation held discussions with major global technology firms including Google, Deloitte, Intel, OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Dell. According to officials, the conversations centered around scalable AI solutions that can be adapted for Punjab’s school ecosystem.
The delegation, which included Secretary School Education Ms. Sonali Giri, PSEB Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh, and DGSE Mr. Arvind, explored possibilities for integrating AI-based pedagogy, digital learning infrastructure, and advanced analytics into classroom environments.

Engagement with Central Ministries
Punjab officials also interacted with representatives from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Education, discussing the national AI roadmap and digital governance frameworks.
Officials indicated that insights from India’s national AI strategy and digital public infrastructure could be adapted to Punjab’s educational system.
Focus on Personalised Adaptive Learning & FLN
Key discussions at the Expo revolved around Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) and strengthening Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) through AI tools. The delegation engaged with AI ecosystem organisations such as Wadhwani AI, gnani.ai, and Bodh.ai to understand practical applications.
According to department officials, proposed AI integrations may include:
- AI-assisted assessments
- Multilingual learning tools
- Teacher support systems
- Real-time monitoring dashboards
- Infrastructure governance analytics
These tools are being evaluated to improve learning outcomes, reduce educational gaps, and provide teachers with data-backed insights.
Punjab’s Growing EdTech Ecosystem
The Education Minister also visited the Punjab Startup Pavilion, interacting with AI startups supported under state government initiatives. Officials highlighted that Punjab is positioning itself as an emerging hub for education technology innovation.
Speaking at the Expo, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains stated that the objective is to prepare Punjab’s students for future challenges by integrating responsible and scalable AI technologies into the school system.
He emphasized that technology should function as a “force multiplier” for teachers while enabling personalised guidance for students across rural and urban regions alike.
