New Delhi/Tel Aviv: India and Israel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance defence cooperation and expand joint activities, just days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Israel later this month.

The MoU was facilitated by the International Defence Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) under the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD), following a series of meetings between leading Indian and Israeli defence companies.

According to IMOD, SIBAT, in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and India’s Ministry of Defence, organised a seminar and business-to-business (B2B) meetings this week. The engagements brought together key defence firms from both countries to explore deeper collaboration.

The seminar was led by SIBAT Director Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yair Kulas and focused on strengthening understanding of India’s defence industrial ecosystem and its updated Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2026, which outlines India’s national defence procurement framework.

The event saw participation from representatives of 30 Indian and 26 Israeli defence companies. The Indian delegation was headed by SIDM Director General Ramesh K and included J P Singh, India’s Ambassador to Israel, and Group Captain Vijay Patil, Defence Attaché of India to Israel.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to advancing bilateral dialogue and underlined the importance of sustained cooperation between the two defence industries, which have maintained close ties during times of crisis.

The IMOD stated that the seminar aligned with the strategic vision of its Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram to expand Israel’s defence exports and deepen partnerships with key nations.

The development follows a Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting held in November last year, during which the two countries signed a landmark agreement to strengthen defence, industrial and technological collaboration, including sharing advanced technologies for co-development and co-production.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Israel on February 25 for a two-day visit, during which he is likely to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues.
