Kazakhstan: India opened its medal tally at the Asian Shooting Championship 2025 with a silver in the men’s 10m air pistol team event.
The trio of Anmol Jain, Saurabh Chaudhary, and Aditya Malra secured the medal on Monday at the Shymkent Shooting Plaza in Kazakhstan. They scored 1735-52x, finishing second to China’s Hu Kai, Changjie You, and Yifan Zhang, who clinched gold with 1744-51x. Iran claimed bronze with 1733-62x.
In the individual category, Anmol Jain was the only Indian to qualify for the final after ranking ninth in qualifying with 580-17x. Amit Sharma (588-24x) and Varun Tomar (584-24x) topped qualifying but were listed under Ranking Points Only (RPO). Aditya Malra placed 13th, while Olympian and Asian Games gold medallist Saurabh Chaudhary finished 21st.
In the final, Anmol secured sixth place with 155.1. China’s Hu Kai won gold, followed by Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Iran’s Amir Joharikhou.
India has sent a strong contingent of 35 senior shooters competing across 15 events in the championship. Two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker is also part of the squad. Additionally, 129 Indian shooters will participate in junior events at the Shymkent meet.
