Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described India’s growing prominence in artificial intelligence as a landmark phase in the country’s technological journey, as it prepares to host the India AI Impact Summit Expo 2026.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the five-day India AI Impact Expo 2026 at 5 pm at Bharat Mandapam. The event is expected to bring together a wide spectrum of global participants, ranging from policymakers and industry leaders to researchers and technology enthusiasts.
In a message shared on X, Modi termed it a proud moment for the country that delegates from around the world are travelling to India for the summit. He said the international participation reflects the capability and innovation potential of India’s youth, as well as the nation’s rapid strides in science and emerging technologies.
Global Dialogue on AI’s Future
Welcoming delegates, the Prime Minister said India is serving as a platform for the world to collectively reflect on the trajectory of artificial intelligence. The summit is drawing global leaders, corporate executives, innovators and scholars to deliberate on how AI can be shaped for broader societal benefit.
The central theme of the summit, “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” — meaning welfare and happiness for all — underscores India’s emphasis on ensuring that AI development remains human-centric and inclusive.
Modi noted that artificial intelligence is already reshaping critical sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and business. He expressed confidence that discussions at the summit would deepen international cooperation, encourage responsible innovation and contribute to a forward-looking global AI framework.
India’s Expanding Digital Footprint
Highlighting the country’s preparedness for the AI era, the Prime Minister pointed to India’s expanding digital public infrastructure, vibrant startup ecosystem and strong research capabilities. He said these factors have enabled the country to emerge as a serious player in the global AI landscape.
Acknowledging the efforts of India’s 1.4 billion citizens, Modi said the nation stands at the cusp of transformative change, combining ambition with accountability in its approach to artificial intelligence.
The outcomes of the summit, he added, are expected to influence policy conversations and technological collaborations worldwide, reinforcing India’s aspiration to play a leading role in shaping the future of AI.
