Mathura: In a tragic incident, a couple and their three minor children were found dead inside their residence in Khapparpur village of Mathura district on Tuesday, prompting police to suspect a case of mass suicide.
According to police officials, a suicide note, a message written on a wall, and a video recorded by the head of the family were recovered from the house. However, the contents of the note and the video have not been disclosed yet.
Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar identified the deceased as Manish Kumar (35), a farmer, his wife aged about 32, and their three children, including two daughters and a son, all minors.
“They were found dead inside a room of their house,” the SSP said, adding that the bodies were discovered after a family member alerted the police.
Police said they received information about the incident from Manish Kumar’s brother. When the children did not come out to play in the morning, he became suspicious. He then climbed over the boundary wall, forced open the door of the house, and found all five family members dead inside. Other villagers accompanied him during the discovery.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
